Former heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz (35-2, 22 KOs) shared his thoughts on the fight between WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney (31-1, 15 KOs) and Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs).
"I think it was a stunning fight. I was surprised, I was in shock because Garcia had fooled everyone by saying he wasn’t training, drinking, and smoking. I was very shocked.
I thought Devin Haney would outbox him. In reality, he was aggressively going for the punch. I think he should not have done that. I believe if Haney had boxed more, it would have been better for him.
But I'm glad Garcia won and did what he needed to do," said Ruiz.
On April 21, Ryan Garcia defeated Devin Haney (31-1, 15 KOs). Despite the loss, Devin remains the WBC champion since Ryan did not make the weight limit and did not contend for the title.
Andy Ruiz is set to face Jarrell Miller (26-1-1, 22 KOs) on August 3 in Los Angeles, USA.
