WBA regular welterweight champion Rolando “Rolly” Romero shared what was said ringside during his fight with Ryan Garcia, which took place on May 2 in Times Square, New York. According to Romero, Turki Alalshikh, head of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority, personally walked up to Garcia’s corner mid-fight.
“Turki walked over to his corner and said, ‘What are you doing? Throw some punches!’
Ryan will beat Devin again. He’s on a roll. Ryan is a great fighter.
Haney–Ramirez and Canelo–Scull were horrible fights. I couldn’t even watch Haney’s fight. I was warming up and didn’t want to fall asleep before walking to the arena. Those guys don’t have the will to finish a fight decisively because they already have their next matchups lined up,” said Romero for Danza Project.
Rolly dropped Garcia in Round 2 and went on to win a unanimous decision, capturing the WBA title. Full fight stats are available via the link.
