The Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) has reported that interim WBC Bantamweight champion Francisco Rodriguez returned a positive test in the wake of his late-June 2025 victory over Galal Yafai.
“Today the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) informed Matchroom, the WBC and the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) that Rodriguez produced a positive doping result following his bout with Yafai on 21 June 2025,” Matchroom Boxing announced.
What this means
The case now moves to the BBBofC and WBC. Their review will begin once the organisations receive the result of Rodriguez’s B-sample. Only after that will the circumstances be examined and any potential disciplinary measures decided.
If Rodriguez is found to be at fault, the bout’s result could be struck from the record.
