Robeisy Ramirez After Espinoza Fight: "I Can’t See With My Right Eye"

Cuban boxer Robeisy Ramirez (14-3, 9 KOs) revealed the reason behind his decision to withdraw from his bout against WBO featherweight champion Rafael Espinoza (26-0, 22 KOs).

According to Ramirez, his opponent injured his eye with an elbow strike, which went unpunished by the referee, prompting him to prioritize his health over continuing the fight.

I complained to the referee, but he didn’t stop the fight. I had to make a decision for the sake of my health. My vision was blurry. I can’t see with my right eye,” Ramirez explained.

Espinoza, on the other hand, stated that the fight was going in his favor and would have ended in his victory regardless, even though Ramirez was ahead on the scorecards at the time of the stoppage.

“I was just doing my job. Clearly, I landed on him. I was just getting started. Honestly, I think the pressure and the later rounds would have been very difficult for him. It means he felt my power. He felt my punches. Maybe he thought he couldn’t take it. But things happened as they did. I won,” Rafael said.

It should be noted that on the night of December 8, Rafael Espinoza defeated Robeisy Ramirez to retain his world championship title.
