Roach Accuses Gervonta of Contract Breach for Jake Fight

American boxer Lamont Roach has spoken out regarding the exhibition fight between his former opponent Gervonta Davis and influencer-turned-Heavyweight boxer Jake Paul.

According to Roach, Gervonta breached their contract by abandoning their agreed rematch in favor of the high-profile bout with Jake Paul — reportedly earning around $40 million. Roach claims he wasn’t even offered any form of compensation.

He’s going to go into that fight and make all that money, and I’m supposed to get nothing? I would have paid him something. If I were in his position and he were in mine, I would’ve called and said: ‘We’ve agreed to a fight with Jake Paul. We’ll compensate you a certain amount to step aside. Maybe we’ll return to our fight, maybe not. Let’s work it out. I have a huge opportunity and want to see what can be done.’ None of that happened,” Roach told Ring Champs.

On March 1, the first fight between Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) and Lamont Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs) ended in a majority draw. A rematch had been planned, but Davis opted to proceed with the Jake Paul exhibition, which will take place on November 14 in Miami, USA.

Meanwhile, Roach is scheduled to return on December 6 in San Antonio, facing Isaac Cruz, the interim WBC Super Lightweight champion.
