The Ring, boxing's top-dog publication, just dropped their latest weight class warrior rankings. Here's the ringside report:
Wilder's Close Call: Deontay Wilder, MIA from the ring since 2022, almost got the boot from the heavyweight ranks. But, right at the bell, his December 23 scrap with Joseph Parker got inked. Wilder hangs onto the 4th spot by a thread.
Gevor's Climb: After outpunching Ilunga Makabu, Noel Gevor Mikaelian clinches the 5th spot in the cruiserweight division.
Dirrell's Dip: Anthony Dirrell slips out of the second middleweight's top 10, making room for Edgar Berlanga at #10.
Bogachuk's Breakthrough: Ukraine's Serhii Bogachuk lands in the first middleweight's top 10 – a career-first. The division's reigning champ is Jermell Charlo.
Lightweight Ladder: Raymond Muratalla claims the 8th spot. The division's heating up with Devin Haney as the reigning champ and Vasyl Lomachenko as the top contender.
Second Lightest Shuffle: Irishman T.J. Doheny punches his way to #10. The throne's empty, but on December 26, Naoya Inoue and Marlon Tapales will duke it out for the top spot and potentially snag The Ring's championship.
First Lightest Flip: Adrian Kuriel approaches #2 while Alvin Soto lands at #4.
Owning The Ring's belt isn't a must for absolute champ status, but it's a badge of honor in boxing. The heavyweight belt is currently with Ready To Fight's co-founder Oleksandr Usyk, who's gearing up for a February 17 showdown with Tyson Fury.
