Result of Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach Fight Will Not Be Changed

The outcome of the bout between WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) and Lamont Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs) will remain unchanged, according to insider Dan Rafael.

"I received a letter from the executive director of the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) addressed to the attorneys of Roach and Davis. In it, the commission acknowledges several errors made by the referee in the ninth round but refuses to alter the official result. The draw stands," Rafael stated.

Previously, Roach's legal team had filed a request with the NYSAC to review the judges' decision.

To recall, on March 1, during the fight, Gervonta took a knee. Referee Steve Willis began counting a knockdown but then paused as Davis moved toward the edge of the ring while his corner wiped his face. The count was never resumed, and the knockdown was not recorded on the official scorecards.

As a result, two judges scored the fight a 114-114 draw, while the third had it 115-113 for Davis. If the knockdown had been officially counted, Gervonta would have lost the fight.
