On August 16 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a 10-round Super Featherweight bout took place between two Americans: 26-year-old Raymond Ford (18-1-1, 8 KOs) and 31-year-old Abraham Nova (24-4-1, 17 KOs).
The fight ended with Ford winning by judges’ decision: 96-94 and twice 97-93.
Ford entered the arena wearing Tom and Jerry shorts, a playful reference to Turki Alalshikh’s remark that he “no longer wants to see fights in the style of Tom and Jerry.”
This marks Ford’s third victory by decision. In his previous two outings, he earned unanimous decisions over Orlando Gonzalez and Thomas Mattice.
Nova, who stepped in to replace Anthony Cacace after the latter withdrew due to injury, came into the fight off a stoppage win over German Meraz, which had snapped a rough run of two losses and a draw.
