WBC Shakeup: Karen Chukhadzhian Storms into Elite 15!

The World Boxing Council (WBC) has rolled out its latest weight class rankings, and there's some severe shuffle in the welterweight division.

Karen Chukhadzhian, the hard-hitting Ukrainian and IBF Intercontinental Champion, has punched his way into the WBC's welterweight (up to 66.67 kg) rankings. Karen's gloves are now ranked 15th, sharing the ring with former world champ Yordenis Ugas at 16th and Uzbekistan's powerhouse Shakhram Giyasov at 14th. Holding the championship belt in this weight class is Terence Crawford.

In 2023, Chukhadzhian threw down in three bouts - he took a hit with a judges' decision loss to Jaron Ennis, but bounced back with two early knockouts.

But wait, there's more! Serhii Bohachuk is also climbing the ladder - he's now a formidable second in the first middleweight rankings (up to 69.85 kg). Other Ukrainian fighters on the rise include Sergiy Derevyanchenko (up from 8th to 7th), Denys Berinchyk (advancing from 13th to 11th), and Vasyl Lomachenko, who's leaped from 2nd to the top spot.
