WBA and WBO cruiserweight champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (47-1, 30 KOs) shared his thoughts on a potential fight against influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul (11-1, 7 KOs).
“I know Jake said at the press conference that he’s ready to fight me. But I’m not sure if he actually meant it. If he’s really standing by his words — I’m open to giving him a shot at the title.
I respect him for actually putting in the work and making noise in this sport. But at the end of the day, he’s still a YouTuber. There are levels to this game. If he’s truly serious — we can make our fight next.
Jake Paul is a hard-working guy, and he’s accomplished more than most professional boxers in his career. It’s been interesting to watch. But I believe even he knows — it’s best to stay away from a real fighter like me.
Talk is cheap. But Jake Paul knows: if he agrees to fight me — he better prepare the funeral,” said Zurdo.
On June 28, Ramirez and Paul will both appear on the same card in Anaheim, California, USA.
Gilberto Ramirez will face Yuniel Dorticos, while Jake Paul takes on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
