Ramirez Becomes the First Mexican Heavyweight Champion in History

On March 30th, at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, USA, WBA Super World cruiserweight champion (up to 90.7 kg) Arsen Goulamirian (27-1, 19 KOs) made another title defense against Mexican Gilberto Ramirez (46-1, 30 KOs).

The contest concluded with Ramirez securing a unanimous decision victory. The judges scored the fight unanimously, 118-110 across the board.

Goulamirian claimed the WBA Super World title on November 15, 2019, in a bout against Kane Watts (22-5, 14 KOs), winning by knockout. Following a loss to Dmitry Bivol (22-0, 11 KOs) in November 2022, Ramirez rebounded in October 2023 with a win over Joe Smith Jr. (28-5, 22 KOs), in both cases securing victories by unanimous decision.
