Queensberry Signs an Olympic Champion. Is a Joshua Fight Real?

Promotional outfit Queensberry has announced the signing of French heavyweight Tony Yoka, the 2016 Olympic gold medalist.

In May 2025, Yoka outpointed previously unbeaten Russian Arslan Yallyev by unanimous decision. He is riding a three-fight winning streak, which halted the roughest patch of his career—consecutive losses to Martin Bakole, Carlos Takam, and Ryad Merhy.

Former British boxer Spencer Oliver has previously talked up the possibility of Yoka (14-3, 11 KOs) meeting Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs):

“I’ll say it right now—there’s a great chance of Yoka vs Joshua. Two Olympic champions sharing a ring. Tony Yoka is trying to rebuild after a tough spell—losing to the likes of Carlos Takam—but he’s won his last three, the most recent in June (actually May—ed.). He’s rebuilding, and so is Anthony Joshua.

Doesn’t it make sense? Two Olympic champions with history between them. It’s a great sell, and I’d love to see it,” Oliver said.

Joshua is recuperating after a stoppage defeat to Daniel Dubois and subsequent elbow surgery.
