Pulev vs. Charr Fight Date Officially Confirmed

The 42-year-old Kubrat Pulev (30-3, 14 KOs) and the 39-year-old regular WBA heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg) Mahmoud Charr (34-4, 20 KOs) will meet in the Bulgarian capital, Sofia, on March 30th. The bout was confirmed at a press conference in Sofia, attended by both boxers, and will take place at Arena Sofia, with a capacity of 12,000 seats.

"I will face a very serious opponent who, like me, has a lot of experience," said Pulev at today's press conference in the Bulgarian capital.

Pulev's manager, Ivaylo Gotsev, added, "This is the chance of my life and Kubrat's life. I've been working as a promoter for 30 years and always wanted to bring this world championship title fight to Sofia."

Charr responded, "I am a fighter. I don't fight for money. I fight to leave a legacy. If you only fight for money, you've already lost. Work hard, and one day you will achieve everything you dream of." The winner will likely be able to challenge for the WBA title against the winner of the Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) vs. Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) bout, who will fight for the undisputed heavyweight title in May. Kubrat Pulev's last fight was in December of the previous year against Andrzej Wawrzyk (34-3, 20 KOs), winning by unanimous decision. Mahmoud Charr last fought in December 2022, when he knocked out Nuri Seferi (42-11, 24 KOs) in the second round.
