The president of the World Boxing Council (WBC) Mauricio Suleiman believes that the best time has come for the fight for the title of the absolute world champion in the super heavy weight category between the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk and the British Tyson Fury.
"This is the perfect time to unify the belts. We booked a final eliminator between Wilder and Andy Ruiz. We don't have any mandatory suitors at the moment, so this is the perfect time to come together."
“Hopefully, the four organizations will agree to sanction the final undisputed fight. Title protection is a complex process, each organization has its own rules and plans. But the importance of this struggle goes far beyond the boundaries of a separate belt, so we support it and will do everything possible to make it happen."
Earlier, Suleiman supported holding a fight for the title of absolute world champion between Usyk and Fury. The president of the WBC said that the fight does not violate the rights of mandatory contenders and will be a grand event for the whole world.
We will remind, in December, Fury defeated Chisora and retained the title of world champion in super heavyweight according to the WBC version. After the fight, Fury called Usyk to the ring, where the boxers had a duel of glances.
According to Fury, the fight with Usyk may take place in February or early March next year. The match may be affected by the British injury. It is expected that Tyson will need 6-8 weeks to recover.
