Promoter Denies Matias vs. Paro Fight Being Finalized

Preliminary reports suggested that IBF super lightweight champion (up to 63.5 kg) Subriel Matias (20-1, 20 KOs) would face Liam Paro (24-0, 15 KOs) this summer. However, promoter Frank Smith from Matchroom has stated otherwise:

"I don't think it will be Liam Paro. I know there has been a lot of information about this on the internet, but I don't believe that to be the case. We are currently working on a list of opponents, but it won't be him," said Smith.

Currently, the most likely candidates are considered to be Regis Prograis (29-2, 24 KOs), Jose Carlos Ramirez (28-1, 18 KOs), and Arnold Barboza (29-0, 11 KOs).

Subriel Matias recently signed a contract with Matchroom Boxing.
