The promoter of WBC and WBO super welterweight (up to 69.9 kg) champion Sebastian Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KOs), Samson Lewkowicz, commented on a potential bout between his client and WBA titleholder and WBO interim champion in the same division, Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs).
Despite the World Boxing Organization (WBO) officially mandating Fundora to defend his titles against Crawford at the end of August, the promoter claims that Terence's team has not approached him for negotiations. The WBO has given both fighters 30 days to agree on the fight, or else a purse bid will be scheduled.
“Crawford is too big right now. He has no chance of beating Sebastian Fundora, who is currently in the gym and practically living there,” Lewkowicz stated.
If Crawford declines negotiations with Fundora, it is expected that Sebastian will face former champion Errol Spence (28-1, 22 KOs), although Lewkowicz is not interested in discussing that fight, as he awaits a response from Crawford's camp.
Sebastian Fundora last fought in March against Tim Tszyu (24-1, 17 KOs), winning by split decision. In August, Terence Crawford moved up a division and defeated Israil Madrimov (10-1-1, 7 KOs) by unanimous decision.
