Prograis on the Weight Issue Between Haney and Garcia

American super lightweight (up to 140 lbs) Regis Prograis (29-2, 24 KOs) responded to the defeat of WBC champion Devin Haney (31-1, 15 KOs) by Ryan Garcia. The 35-year-old fighter commented on Devin's statement that Ryan's heavier weight influenced the outcome of the match.

"They did it to me, and now it's been done to them. I saw how big he was in the ring. When you fight at super lightweight and gain 25 pounds overnight (approximately 11.3 kg), any doctor will tell you that's not naturally possible. You need IVs for that.

You're not supposed to use IVs. It's banned. According to my contract, you're not supposed to be that big. It was illegal, but I let it go. Now Heyni is complaining about Ryan's weight issues, but you did it to me. I didn't say anything about it. If that's the case, then don't fight," said Prograis.

On April 21st, Ryan Garcia defeated Devin Haney (31-1, 15 KOs). Despite the loss, Devin remains the WBC champion, as Ryan did not make the weight limit and was not eligible for the title.
