President of the WBO Announces When Denys Berinchyk and Keyshawn Davis Will Fight

President of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), Gustavo Olivieri, revealed when WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs) will step into the ring against American prospect Keyshawn Davis (12-0, 8 KOs).

Berinchyk became the WBO lightweight champion when he defeated Emanuel Navarrete, who was aiming to become a four-division champion. Berinchyk spent many years at the top of the rankings.

His promoter, my good friend Alexander Krassyuk, kept pushing for his boxer to get a shot at the world title. Berinchyk is a warrior; he also joined the Ukrainian military, and we support him in that. We are very proud to have Berinchyk as a champion.

Now, at the beginning of next year, he will meet the mandatory challenger, Keyshawn Davis. It’s a fantastic fight—an exciting clash of styles. It will be a showdown of experience versus the new generation in Davis. Berinchyk is an Olympian, as is Keyshawn. We’ll see how the fight goes. I wish Berinchyk all the best,” said Olivieri.

In May, Denys Berinchyk defeated Emanuel Navarrete by split decision to claim the vacant WBO lightweight title. In November, Keyshawn Davis cruised past Gustavo Lemos, knocking him out in the second round.
