Possible Berinchyk and Loma Fight? Promoter Explains

The head of the K2 Promotions and CBDO of Ready To Fight, Alexander Krassyuk, shared his thoughts on a potential lightweight unification bout between WBO lightweight champion (up to 61.2 kg) Denys Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs) and IBF and IBO champion Vasyl Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs).

«Berinchyk lost several years after his Olympics, contemplating whether to go for another Olympics or turn professional. If it weren't for this delay, he would have become a lightweight champion much earlier, I am sure. Besides, he was reluctant to go pro because of Lomachenko.

They are from the same team, compete in the same weight class. A fight between them? It wouldn’t be good for them. For Ukraine, it would be a big fight, but is it interesting in the USA? I doubt it. Most likely, no. They are both champions now, but I don’t know Lomachenko’s plans for continuing his career.

I don’t think this fight will happen,» said Krassyuk.

Lomachenko and Berinchyk both became champions in May. Initially, Vasyl knocked out George Kambosos in the 11th round on the night of May 12. Then, on the night of May 19, Berinchyk won by decision against Emanuel Navarrete. The other two lightweight champions are Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta Davis.
