On his YouTube channel, The Porter Way Podcast, former world champion Shawn Porter (31-4-1, 17 KOs) shared his thoughts on one of the year's biggest fights between Americans Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) and Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) for the WBC lightweight world title (up to 63.5 kg). He urged not to count out Garcia.
"Devin and Ryan have fought 6 times — with 3 wins each. This means Garcia has seen Haney's speed, felt his power. He'll enter the ring confident, knowing what to expect from his opponent.
With coach Derrick James, Ryan will further refine the basics and fundamentals of boxing. Don't focus on his attempts to use the shoulder-roll. Trust me, he'll come into the ring well-prepared. Does this make him the favorite? No. The odds aren't even 50/50. Devin has more chances, somewhere around 70/30, maybe even 75/25. But don't be surprised if Ryan shows something in this fight that he couldn't against Gervonta Davis," Porter said.
The fight between Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia is set for April 20th in Las Vegas, USA. The amateur record between the boxers is 3:3.
