Sulaiman Confirms Pacquiao’s Return in WBC Title Fight

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman has confirmed that Manny Pacquiao (62–8–2, 39 KOs), the legendary eight-division world champion, will return to the ring for a title fight this summer.

According to Sulaiman, Pacquiao will face WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios (29–2–1, 18 KOs) in July. The announcement was made through Premier Boxing Champions (PBC).

Mario Barrios will fight Manny Pacquiao in July. It’s a major event. The information was released by PBC.

Manny won his first world title at flyweight under the WBC and now wants to end his career as a WBC champion — so he’ll compete at welterweight,” said Sulaiman.

Pacquiao last fought in August 2021, when he lost a unanimous decision to Yordenis Ugas. Barrios was elevated to full WBC champion after Terence Crawford vacated the belt by moving up in weight. In November, Barrios made a title defense against Abel Ramos, which ended in a draw.
