Manny Pacquiao Enters WBC Welterweight Top 5

The World Boxing Council (WBC) has released an updated version of its welterweight rankings (limit: 66.7 kg) — and former eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao (62-8-2, 39 KOs) has made a surprise entry into the top 5.

Pacquiao hasn’t fought since August 2021, when he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Yordenis Ugas. Despite the prolonged inactivity, the 45-year-old has re-entered title contention.

According to early reports, Pacquiao is expected to face current WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios (29-2-1, 18 KOs) on July 19 in Las Vegas, USA.
