Oscar Valdez Dreams of a Bout Against Lomachenko

Mexican super featherweight boxer (up to 130 lbs) and former champion Oscar Valdez (31-2, 23 KOs) is excited about his upcoming fight.

"I feel so happy to have the opportunity to step into the ring. I'm physically and mentally ready for this fight and ready to give the fans a great bout. My style and Liam Wilson's style will be attractive to the fans. I'm thrilled and want to showcase my skills again. We're not looking for easy fights. I'm seeking opportunities, and I like this fight. I'm happy to be back and give the fans what they want to see.

The fight against Wilson means everything to me because whoever wins will be a step closer to a world title shot in the super featherweight division. This is my division... My plan is to become a world champion again this year. But first, I must win this fight. I'm mentally preparing as if it's a world title fight.

A fight against Lomachenko? It would be foolish for any fighter to pass up such an opportunity. Facing Lomachenko is a dream fight for me. He's a world-class fighter. You always have a chance in boxing. Every fighter stepping into the ring has a chance," says Valdez.

Valdez's next fight will take place on March 29th in Glendale, USA. The last time the Mexican boxer fought was in August 2023, losing by a decision to Emanuel Navarrete. On March 29th, Valdez will meet Navarrete's former opponent, Liam Wilson, who is even taller than Emanuel. For comparison:

Navarrete's height is 170 cm (5'7"), with a reach of 183 cm (72").

Wilson's height is 176 cm (5'9"), with a reach of 178 cm (70").

Valdez's height is 166 cm (5'5"), with a reach of 168 cm (66").

Vasiliy Lomachenko will compete for the IBF lightweight title (up to 135 lbs) on May 12th against George Kambosos.
