Oscar to Canelo: "Show Some F***ing Respect"

On May 4th in Las Vegas, USA, Mexican super middleweight (up to 76,2 kg) undisputed world champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) will defend his title against compatriot Jaime Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs).

Ahead of the event, a press conference was held where old grievances between Canelo and his former promoter, now representing Munguia, Oscar De La Hoya, resurfaced. Emotions ran high to the point that security had to step in between the undisputed champion and the founder of Golden Boy Promotions.

"It seems like Canelo has a hard time remembering who helped him become a true global star. To be clear, I have nothing but respect for Canelo as a fighter. His record and abilities speak for themselves. But he has spent most of the last two months insulting me instead of promoting this fight.

So let me make it easy for him. Yes, I've had many hardships in my life. Yes, I've been to rehab several times. Yes, there have been very unworthy moments in my life, and yes, there were times when work wasn't my priority due to my mental health, which I neglected for so long. But that doesn't change the fact that Golden Boy Promotions made Canelo Alvarez, period. The company he fought for decades had one name, and it's mine. So show some f***ing respect to it.

As for Jaime, he was always going to be great, just like he will be on Saturday night. When Jaime was 21, Canelo volunteered to fight GGG (Gennady Golovkin) and failed two drug tests. While Jaime wasn't allowed to fulfill his dream in 2018, on Saturday night, he will do just that and become a world champion," said De La Hoya.

Alvarez responded in Spanish and eventually got up from his seat to chase Oscar, but security intervened.
