Oscar on Bohachuk and Ortiz: "It's Like Looking in a Mirror"

On August 10 in Las Vegas, USA, Ukrainian "interim" WBC super welterweight champion (up to 69.9 kg) Serhii Bohachuk (24-1, 23 KOs) will defend his title against American Virgil Ortiz (21-0, 21 KOs).

Recently, the boxers had their first face-off at the headquarters of Golden Boy Promotions in Los Angeles.

Oscar De La Hoya, the founder and head of Golden Boy, who represents Ortiz, commented on the upcoming fight between these knockout artists.

"Virgil is extra-special. From the moment we saw him in the amateurs, we knew we had a generational talent. He has a killer instinct and incredible power. If he hurts you and smells blood, he'll finish you, and that's something special. That's the main thing and I love it.

Bohachuk? It's almost like looking in a mirror. It's incredible that Serhii has the same abilities and knockout power as Ortiz. Serhii is an incredible boxer, hardworking, an old-school fighter.

I have to make sure the world knows this will be the fight of the year. It's a fight that calls for total war and total brawl, and I don't think it will last long. You have two warriors with power and skills who never back down. These are the fights you enjoy and talk about for a long time," De La Hoya said.

Virgil Ortiz says he has been working towards such a fight since childhood:

"I think it's going to be something like a war. Our fighting styles definitely complement each other. It will be a good fight. We know each other well.

I've been working towards this for a long time. I've been training since I was five years old, and I work hard every day. I had nothing in my childhood.

It means a lot to me, and August 10 will be a big fight. I will be happy to watch it later."

Serhii Bohachuk is excited to represent Ukraine:

"I'm glad to be here against such a strong opponent like Virgil.

It's interesting for me. Virgil is a good opponent, and it's good for me. It won't be a fight; it will be a war.

It will be an interesting match. For me, it's an opportunity to represent Ukraine in Las Vegas and put on a big show."
