Oscar: "I Will Sue Canelo for Defamation"

On May 2nd, a press conference was held for the fight between super middleweight undisputed champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) and Jaime Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs). During the event, Canelo had a verbal altercation with Oscar De La Hoya, accusing his former promoter of fraud.

Later, it was reported that the Golden Boy Promotions founder, through his lawyer, demanded a public apology and retraction from Canelo for his comments about Oscar attempting to steal money from him and Gennadiy Golovkin.

Now, De La Hoya claims he will sue Saul for defamation due to the harm his words could cause.

"I will definitely sue for defamation. Imagine what kind of damage this could do to my reputation. Imagine what this could do to my business, the fighters who believe it.

We paid Golovkin everything we owed. It takes time to receive the money from pay-per-view and cable operators. And when the money came in, I paid Golovkin, and that's it. No disagreements," said Oscar.
