Oscar De La Hoya, founder and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, revealed that he recently held a meeting with representatives from Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) to discuss potential cross-promotional bouts.
One key fight reportedly discussed was a showdown between interim WBC super welterweight champion Vergil Ortiz Jr. (23-0, 21 KOs) and former undisputed champion Jermall Charlo (35-2-1, 19 KOs).
“I’m excited about boxing’s future. We discussed several fights we could make together — especially Vergil vs. Jermall,” said De La Hoya.
Ortiz is coming off a unanimous decision win over Israil Madrimov in February, while Charlo last fought in September 2023, losing by unanimous decision to Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in a bout for the undisputed super middleweight crown.
