Oleksandr Usyk — Boxer of the Year According to the WBC

The World Boxing Council (WBC) has named Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs), the holder of the WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles, as its Boxer of the Year.

On May 18, Usyk defeated Britain’s Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) by split decision, becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999.

On May 18, 2024, Oleksandr Usyk achieved a historic feat, becoming the undisputed champion at both cruiserweight and heavyweight after defeating Tyson Fury in an epic showdown.

In December, Usyk successfully defended his WBC world heavyweight title, reaffirming his status as a dominant force in the division.

Usyk continues to showcase his exceptional skills outside Ukraine, influencing the global development of boxing.

These achievements cement Usyk’s legacy as one of the greatest boxers of his generation,” the WBC statement reads.
