Oleksandr Usyk Vacates the WBO Title

Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk has vacated his WBO Heavyweight world title.

“The World Boxing Organization (WBO) today announced that it has received official communication from Oleksandr Usyk’s team regarding the future of the WBO Heavyweight world title. After careful consideration, Usyk has decided to relinquish the championship,” the organization said in its statement.

Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) won the WBO Heavyweight title on September 25, 2021, when he defeated Britain’s Anthony Joshua by unanimous decision.
