Gvozdyk Eyes World Title Run Again — Open to Moving Up

Former light heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk (20-2, 16 KOs) insists that, despite his age, his ambitions in boxing remain sky-high. The 38-year-old Ukrainian says he’s determined to become a world champion once again — even if it means moving up in weight.

I was ready to fight as early as September, right after my last bout. Now I finally get the opportunity to step back into the ring — and that’s great.

I just want to stay active. Look, I have no illusions — I’m 38 years old, and I can’t afford to sit around for years waiting on the next fight. I want to fight anyone. I’ll take on the best, or I’ll fight someone lesser known — the key is staying in shape. I’m open to any option.

Becoming a world champion again — that’s the goal. I’ll try to do it at light heavyweight. If that doesn’t work out, I’ll move up to cruiserweight and go for it there. I may be 38, but I still feel healthy and young inside. Everything’s good. I’ve still got some time,” said Gvozdyk.

Gvozdyk is set to return to the ring on the night of April 20, when he faces Anthony Holloway at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, USA.
