Former light heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk (20-2, 16 KOs) has revealed that a potential fight against Cuban contender David Morrell (11-1, 9 KOs) is being discussed for the fall.
— You’re working with a new manager now, since your split with Eddy Reynoso a few months ago, right?
— Yes, I’m currently working with a new manager — David Su and his team at 3Point Management. I tag them in my socials from time to time.
— So the April 19 bout is being handled by your new team?
— Exactly. This is basically our first fight together. We're still not giving up — we hope to find a suitable opponent. I have a reserved slot for that event, and they’re actively searching for someone to face me.
That said, it’s clear we’re not talking about a top-level opponent here… What matters most to me right now is closing this camp properly and getting a fight in. After that — we’ll see what comes next. September is looking promising — there are some big offers on the table, and that’s encouraging. But first, I want to take care of business now.
— Can you say what those fall offers are?
— I’ll keep it brief: David Morrell.
Both Gvozdyk and Morrell last fought David Benavidez, and both dropped unanimous decisions.
