Former light heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk (20-2, 16 KOs) has revealed his next steps in boxing. The Ukrainian aims to challenge interim WBO champion Callum Smith (31-2, 22 KOs) but will first take a tune-up fight on April 19 at a Golden Boy Promotions event.
"I want to fight the best. Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev are likely unavailable since they’re focused on their trilogy fight. Now there’s Callum Smith, who has become the interim champion.
Smith vs. Buatsi was the perfect matchup—both delivered a great fight for the fans.
I’m ready, and I’m here. I can compete at that level, and I’d love to fight Callum Smith. That could be a dream fight, and I want to make it happen. It would be perfect. I’m open to all challenges," said Gvozdyk.
Gvozdyk last fought in June, when he faced David Benavidez and lost by unanimous decision.
