British cruiserweight powerhouse Lawrence Okolie (19-1, 14 KOs) has confirmed his keen interest in a battle against fellow countryman, the 35-year-old heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte (30-3, 20 KOs), as reported by Sky Sports.
Okolie, with his sights set on the heavyweight division, expressed his long-standing desire for this fight, a dream that has been brewing since his days as a Commonwealth and British champion.
"Dillian Whyte is back. It's no secret that ever since I was the Commonwealth and British champion, I've wanted this fight. So, he's definitely on my radar. Watching the heavyweights, I saw how much fun they were having, and I want in on that action. The timing is perfect. A new weight class, new energy, new coach. I'm ready to storm through the bridgerweight scene and then take on the heavyweights," Okolie stated with determination.
Okolie's next bout is scheduled for May 24 against Lukasz Rozanski (15-0, 14 KOs) in Poland, marking another step in his ambitious journey. Meanwhile, Dillian Whyte secured a victory over Christian Hammer (27-11, 17 KOs) on March 17, after the German contender withdrew from the fight, further fueling anticipation for a potential showdown between Okolie and Whyte.
