Mauricio Sulaiman, President of the World Boxing Council (WBC) and adviser to Ready To Fight, has confirmed that WBC bridgerweight champion Lawrence Okolie (20-1, 15 KOs) has agreed to a bout with interim champion Kevin Lerena (30-3, 14 KOs).
With the agreement in place, the WBC has canceled the purse bid.
Previously, Sulaiman had mentioned that former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (43-4-1, 42 KOs) was a potential contender for the bridgerweight title fight against Okolie. Lawrence Okolie last fought in April, defeating Lukasz Rozanski (15-1, 14 KOs) by technical knockout in the first round. Kevin Lerena last fought in March, losing to Justis Huni (9-0, 4 KOs) by unanimous decision.
