No Show on Showtime! Big Boxing Night Scrapped for Dec. 9

The gloves are off! Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) just delivered a haymaker to fight fans by pulling the plug on Showtime's December 9th PPV bout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas. This leaves the Minneapolis showdown on Dec. 16 as the final round for Showtime's boxing broadcasts.

Word on the ropes was that Showtime was gearing up for their last hurrah in broadcasting boxing and other sports, set to bow out in 2024. This Dec. 9 clash was meant to be the grand finale, with Keith "One Time" Thurman squaring off against Eimantas Stanyonis for the WBA World welterweight crown. And if that wasn't enough to get the bell ringing, WBA middleweight champ Erislandy Lara was set to dance with Danny Garcia. Whispered rumors hinted at a Floyd Mayweather Jr. exhibition match, making the card.

Yet, the show must go on! While Dec. 16 will see WBA Regular champ David Morrell throwing punches, his dance partner remains a mystery. As for Thurman and Stanionis? They might still throw down on Dec. 9, just not under Showtime's lights. Lara and Garcia are now penciled in for an early 2024 rematch.
