Matchroom Boxing promoter Frank Warren has confirmed that a rematch between his fighter, IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, and former champion Anthony Joshua won't happen anytime soon. Instead, Dubois is set to face a different opponent on February 22.
On the same night, Martin Bakole and Agit Kabayel are likely to clash, with the winner becoming the next contender for Dubois's title.
"We’re working on an agreement and finalizing it. We’re close, and I’m confident we’ll make it happen. But until contracts are signed, we can’t confirm anything. Daniel’s next fight is going to be huge for him.
He’s captivated the fans, and everyone is eager to see him in the ring again. Daniel’s next opponent will be someone like Joseph Parker—someone on a winning streak at Daniel’s level. Parker’s name is on the list, and that’s the level we’re targeting," Warren stated.
In their initial bout, Dubois achieved a stoppage victory over Joshua in the 5th round.
