Undisputed super bantamweight champion (up to 55.3 kg) Naoya Inoue (27-0, 24 KOs) from Japan and IBF mandatory challenger Australian Sam Goodman (18-0, 8 KOs) are not expected to face each other in their next bout as previously planned.
It is anticipated that the Australian’s team will arrange an interim fight for him in July 2024. According to Bob Arum, the Japanese champion might return to the ring in September.
Inoue could potentially face Goodman in December 2024.
Naoya and Sam first met face-to-face in May 2024, when Inoue knocked out Luis Nery and defended his status as the undisputed world champion.
