New Challenger for Crawford: Another Super Welterweight Champion

ESPN analyst Fernando Barbosa reports that WBA super welterweight champion (up to 154 lbs) Israil Madrimov (10-0-1, 7 KOs) is the primary contender for a fight against Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs), the holder of the WBA, WBC, and WBO welterweight titles (up to 147 lbs).

The bout could take place at super welterweight. Barbosa also hinted that the Crawford vs. Madrimov fight might occur as part of the first show organized by Turki Al-Sheikh in the USA. Details on the date and venue of the fight are yet to be announced. Previously, Sebastian Fundora was named as Crawford's opponent. After winning the WBC and WBO super welterweight titles, he was supposed to start negotiations for a fight with Crawford's team. However, due to Fundora's injury, he won't be able to fight for another 6 months. Briton Kell Brook was also mentioned as a possible opponent for Terence.
