Nelson: "Don't Be Surprised If Fury Retires"

In the early hours of May 19 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) faced Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) for the undisputed heavyweight championship. The bout went the full 12 rounds, ending with a split decision victory for the Ukrainian.

Former champion and current boxing analyst Johnny Nelson has advised not to be surprised if a devastated Tyson Fury decides to retire from professional boxing.

"Don't be surprised if Tyson walks away. He will be gutted by the result. Tyson's team will need to have serious discussions about how to motivate him after this and bring back his spirits.

What more can he do? How can he improve after this? This loss will affect his head and heart," Nelson said.

Oleksandr Usyk is the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis, who achieved the feat in a rematch against Evander Holyfield on November 13, 1999.
