National Bank of Ukraine Releases Coin in Honor of Usyk

The National Bank of Ukraine has issued a commemorative coin dedicated to Ukraine’s two-time undisputed world boxing champion and co-founder of Ready to Fight, Oleksandr Usyk.

The new coin is dedicated to an extraordinary event on the global sports stage: in May 2024, Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk became the first undisputed heavyweight champion in the last quarter-century, uniting all four major belts—a powerful source of motivation for every Ukrainian.

The obverse of the coin features a traditional Crimean Tatar ornament, symbolizing Usyk’s Crimean roots. This pattern, used in the design of one of Usyk’s outfits during the pre-fight stare-down for the undisputed title, emphasizes the inseparable connection between Crimea and Ukraine.

On the reverse, at the center of the composition, is a stylized image of the champion against the outline of the 'Motherland Monument,' a symbol of the unbreakable strength of the Ukrainian people.

At the bottom left and right of the champion’s silhouette are inscriptions: 18.05.2024 (the date of the fight), ABSOLUTE and UNDISPUTED (the title the athlete claimed),” reads the NBU statement.

The coin has a circulation of 50,000 pieces and, starting October 1, will have a face value of 5 hryvnias.
