Mega Fight on the Horizon: Naoya Inoue Interested in Bout with Zunto Nakatani

Undisputed world champion in the super flyweight division (up to 55.3 kg) Naoya Inoue (28-0, 25 KOs) stated that he would be open to stepping into the ring against WBC champion in the flyweight division (up to 53.5 kg) Junto Nakatani (29-0, 22 KOs).

"There’s a young fighter who wants to be number one in the P4P rankings. I guess I just have to wait for Nakatani to move up. If so many fans are talking about it, maybe it’s time for me to say it out loud.

If Nakatani wants to be number one, that means he wants to fight me, right? I don’t know if he wants to be first in this weight class or another, but after the fight on October 14, I thought he was really strong. That’s why I’m interested," said Inoue.

In the P4P rankings by the prestigious publication The Ring, Inoue is in 2nd place, while Nakatani ranks 9th.

In September, Naoya Inoue won by technical knockout in the 7th round against TJ Doheny (26-5, 20 KOs). On October 14, Junto Nakatani stopped Tasana Salapat (76-2, 53 KOs) with a TKO in the 6th round.

Both boxers are clients of the Top Rank promotional company.
