Naoya Inoue Sparred With Former Opponent Tapales Before Akhmadaliev

Undisputed Super Bantamweight World Champion Naoya Inoue held sparring sessions with his former opponent, 33-year-old Filipino ex-champion Marlon Tapales. The Japanese fighter shared a photo with Tapales after training.

“Training with Tapales is complete! I was able to get the best preparation! Thanks to Tapales’ team and President Ohashi! Three weeks left — I’ll sharpen my form even more. Can’t wait for September 14,” Inoue wrote.

In December 2023, Naoya Inoue (30-0, 27 KOs) defeated Marlon Tapales (40-4, 21 KOs) by knockout in the 10th round. That victory crowned the 32-year-old Japanese star as the Undisputed Super Bantamweight Champion.

On September 14, Inoue will defend his titles against Murodjon Akhmadaliev at IG Arena in Nagoya, Japan.
