Nakatani Set to Vacate Titles Ahead of Inoue Showdown

Japanese WBC and IBF Bantamweight champion Junto Nakatani is reportedly planning to vacate his titles in the near future.

According to sources, Nakatani’s next bout will take place in the Super Bantamweight division (up to 55.225 kg) as he prepares for a potential showdown with Naoya Inoue, the undisputed champion at 122 lbs.

The highly anticipated all-Japanese superfight was originally targeted for winter 2025, but is now expected to take place in spring 2026. Inoue has previously invited Nakatani to face him in Tokyo, setting the stage for one of the biggest fights in Japanese boxing history.
