Jake Paul’s MVP Signs Cherneka Johnson, Announces Undisputed Title Fight

Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), the promotional company founded by Jake Paul, has announced the signing of WBA bantamweight world champion Cherneka Johnson (17-2, 7 KOs).

At the same time, MVP confirmed the Australian fighter’s next bout: on July 11, Johnson will face Shurretta Metcalf of the United States in a fight for the undisputed bantamweight title (limit: 53.5 kg / 118 lbs).

Johnson steps in to replace Dina Thorslund, who withdrew due to the recent birth of her second child.

The event will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City, marking the first-ever all-women’s professional boxing card at the iconic venue. The show will be broadcast live on Netflix.

The bout will also be Johnson’s U.S. debut, and if victorious, she would become the first Australian woman to achieve undisputed champion status in the four-belt era.

Jake Paul continues to build a strong women's roster under the MVP banner. More signings were previously covered [here].

In her last fight, Johnson stopped Nina Hughes via 7th-round TKO in March.

Shurretta Metcalf last fought in October, winning a unanimous decision in her rematch with Miyo Yoshida.
