Mikey Garcia: "Gvozdyk is Tough"

Former world champion in five weight classes, Mikey Garcia, shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight between David Benavidez (28-0, 24 KOs) and Oleksandr Gvozdyk (20-1, 16 KOs), not considering it an easy match for the Mexican fighter.

"I know Gvozdyk. I like him; he's tough. It's a difficult fight. Gvozdyk is strong and powerful. Benavidez indeed has great skills and is more active. This probably means he'll be the favorite," Garcia stated.

Gvozdyk and Benavidez will box for the WBC interim light heavyweight title (up to 175 lbs). An official date for the bout has not yet been confirmed, but it's preliminarily set for June or July 2024. This fight will mark Benavidez's debut in the new division.

In his last fight, Gvozdyk knocked out Isaac Rodriguez in the second round. Benavidez secured an early victory against Demetrius Andrade in the 6th round.
