Mike Tyson on the Postponement of the Fight Against Jake: "I Vomited Blood"

Former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson (50-6, 44 KOs) opened up about the reasons behind postponing his match against YouTuber and boxer Jake Paul (10-1, 7 KOs).

"I was training and feeling great when suddenly this wave of fatigue hit me. I kept telling my trainer I didn’t understand what was happening to me. Then, during a flight from Miami, I went to the restroom and vomited blood. The next thing I remember, I was lying on the floor and literally passing something black like tar. They found a massive ulcer, 6.3 centimeters wide, and it was bleeding.

All my friends were calling me, like I was dying. I asked the doctor in the hospital if I was going to die, and she didn’t say 'no.' She told me we had options, and that’s when I started to panic. God, I want to fight and get back to training. I want to get in the ring with that freak. I don’t want to die in a hospital bed—I want to die in the ring.

You wouldn’t believe what I went through because of this ulcer. I lost 12 kilograms—can you imagine? I was furious because I was at my peak, ready to fight,” Tyson shared.

The fight, initially set for July 20, has been rescheduled for November 15. The outcome of the match will go into the official records for both fighters, and it will also be the first boxing bout to be streamed on Netflix.
