David Benavidez (26-0, 23 KOs), the interim WBC second middleweight champion, is believed by former world champion Mike Tyson (50-6, 44 KOs) to be the front-runner to fight Caleb Plant (22-1, 13 KOs).
“I was very impressed by Plant’s last fight, but I just don’t think anybody can beat Benavidez. I want to see him fight Yarde, Bivol and all those other guys. He’s just got so many guys to fight – if they want to fight him,” Tyson said.
On March 25, the Benavidez-Plant fight will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, as a part of PBC's Boxing Night, airing on Showtime as a Pay-Per-View event. The victor of the bout will be designated as the mandatory challenger for Saul Alvarez's WBC championship title.
