McGuigan on Usyk vs. Fury: "It Will Be a Win by Points"

Irish coach Shane McGuigan shared his insights on the upcoming fight for the undisputed heavyweight world title (over 90.7 kg) between titleholder Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) and WBC champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs).

"Tyson Fury looks trained, his face is slimmed down, he must have lost weight. There are fights where he could maintain his weight, like against Wilder, who is naturally lean and not very powerful, so he could neutralize him using his strength.

Against Usyk, he won't do that because Alexander is agile. Therefore, Tyson has dropped some weight so they could match up in terms of footwork and speed. It's really going to be an engaging fight. I don’t think it will be a brawl like Gatti-Ward, but from a skills perspective, it's really fascinating.

My prediction? Given recent form—Usyk. Size, strength, how can you wear him out? Nobody has exhausted him yet. Derek Chisora was the closest who could physically impose himself, and he did it early, then Usyk adapted.

So I don’t know, I think it will be a victory by points, I think the fight will be very close on points. But I can't name a winner yet," said McGuigan.

The fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury is scheduled for May 18th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
