Former American boxer and current trainer Buddy McGirt commented on the upcoming fight between WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) and Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs).
"I don't even want to talk about this fight because I don't think it should be happening. I'm surprised that the New York commission allowed this (allowed Ryan Garcia to compete). Looking at Garcia's mental state, you could conclude that he shouldn't be fighting. That's an assessment from the surface, but I could be wrong. I just think Haney will beat him. I think Haney has too many tools for him. He's very well-rounded, he has improved significantly over the years, I think he's doing very well," said McGirt.
Reminder, Ryan did not make the weight limit and will not be eligible for the title even if he wins against Haney.
The fight is set for the night of April 21 in New York. Earlier, we reported where the fight could be watched.
