WBC Interim Super Middleweight champion Christian Mbilli has shared his thoughts ahead of his upcoming fight against Lester Martinez.
The bout takes place on September 13 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas (USA), on the undercard of the showdown for the undisputed Super Middleweight championship between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Terence Crawford. Mbilli has his eyes set on the winner of that historic clash.
“I’m ready to put on a big show at this event and prove that I’m the next in line to face the winner of Canelo–Crawford. This is the fight of my life, but I’m prepared to show the world how great I am.
I just hope Martinez doesn’t face any health issues before our fight. He looks like a very strong guy. He can box. He can fight. His power and physique impress me. He seems complete. It’s going to be a big challenge for me, but we’ve got the right strategies to beat him. I’m not taking this fight lightly. It won’t be easy, and he could be my toughest opponent yet. He’s coming to fight and to win — but I’ll be ready.
I think his performance against Gongora was better than mine. Gongora gave me some trouble. But that won’t matter when I face Martinez. I’ll make him pay for his mistakes. I’ve got the power and the endurance, and I’ll win this fight,” said Mbilli.
On June 27, Christian Mbilli (29-0, 24 KOs) demolished Maciej Sulecki with a first-round TKO.
Lester Martinez (19-0, 16 KOs) last fought in March, scoring a fourth-round knockout over Joeshon James.
